Oh man... I got it. Finale SongWriter. It came by UPS yesterday evening.
So, last night between dealing with Max and eating dinner and doing
chores I started a new tune. I finished it between 1am and 3am last
night. I just couldn't stop working on it. Again, there's no sound
effects or any synthy stuff, just straight music. No reverb either.
As
for Finale not being particularly compatible with other programs, well,
I have to admit it's true. Still, the results straight from Finale are
incredible, so I'm not sure that matters. I'm really going to try and
somehow get enough money before next summer so I can get the bigger and
better versions of the program. There's a $200 version and then there's
the big monster $600 version. They give you a discount for buying the
smaller versions though, so maybe that price will be considerably
cheaper. (She knocks on wood.) The only real drawback to using Finale,
and maybe this isn't true of the more expensive versions, is the lack of
being able to use my own sounds. Finale does export midi, thankfully, so
I'm hoping, even though the computer's default synth sounds and the
Anvil Studio's Roland synth sounds don't work well with it, that I can
open the midi up in Modplug and at least edit in my usual noise and
sound effects in some of the pieces. It's complicated, but I would put
the extra stuff together in Modplug and then save that track without the
Finale part as a wav and then take both that and the Finale saved wav
and put them together in Acid. Okay, so it's messy, but you get the idea.
So,
anyway, enough of my rambling. Here's Evening
Song.
Thanks for downloading and listening!
