Nearly done....

Here's just a quick update for anyone who's interested... There's just two tunes to go on "Abandoned Hospital". There was talk of making it a double CD, but I'm so happy with these tracks I really don't think another ten to fifteen of them are necessary. This will be an all out real CD, with a jewel case and proper inserts and shrink wrapped too. I am a member of the Abandoned North Carolina Yahoo Group, so I may ask if they'd like to mention it to their group. I might also mention it to Infiltration and some of the other urban exploration sites. It's music inspired by the death of a building. Really, it could symbolize the death and decay of any building, but the hospital was the key focus for me as I created it. I have a deep fear of hospitals and asylums since my own son is mentally disabled so many of these tunes have a sometimes deeply hidden lightheartedness where a little of my thankfulness that Max will never see the inside of one of those places creeps out a bit.

As I complete each tune I put them together and work out where the new tune should fit in and then change the track numbers. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it takes a little time and a few trial runs. I don't like a jarring back to reality. I want you to feel lost in the corridors and staircases and rooms of the past, with their tossed out and forgotton furniture rotting in glimpses of the sun through holes in painted or woodcovered windows, with the archaic and rusting medical equipment, with frightening bits of hopelessness in the form of used and tossed away hypodermic needles and makeshift beds in graffiti ruined corners... So, as I listen, I go to places like Opacity and wander through the amazing photography there and all the history. I hope so much that once this album is available at CD Baby you guys will get it and experience what I experienced while creating it.

One of the things I will be forced to do when I finally put it up at CD Baby is describe what "Abandoned Hospital" sounds like. My husband says it reminds him of Brian Eno's "Music for Airports". Having not heard that album I can only guess if it's true. I'm sure I have to go turn on Rhapsody and try to find out what it does sound like. I hope though, that everyone will enjoy listening as much as I've enjoyed creating this one.

Now, back to work... Just "Waiting Room" and "The East Wing" yet to go...

Thanks for downloading and listening!
