I really thought about this one. It's "The Waiting Room" and I wanted it
to be the final track on the album, so it had to have the right feel.
Rather than just jumping in and starting it to see what would happen, I
stopped and gave myself a week to really let it stew. It turned out to be
the best thing too, because we went to Shallotte, NC on Friday to run some
errands and I got some great new sounds to use in music while we were
there. (I take my digital recorder and my camera everywhere.) So, "The
Waiting Room" does and eventually "Hall of Doors" will make use of the new
recordings. Though "The Waiting Room" is the intentional last track on the
album, the last track to make for the album is "Hall of Doors". I
wanted to stew on it a little while too. I have an idea for it now though,
so I don't think I'll wait much longer...
Meanwhile, I've been
making use of the four "reject" tracks from the album by putting them up
on a few OMDs to get a reaction. Again, there's nothing wrong with the
tracks, they just had something that didn't quite fit the rest of the
tracks on the album so I remixed them. So as to not let them go to waste
and perhaps to do a little "Abandoned Hospital" pre-promoting, I put all
of them up at Soundclick,
a couple of them up at Audiostreet
and one at Mixposure
and just today they're all up at CNET.
So far the folks at Soundclick either haven't seen them or just aren't
interested, the folks at Audiostreet listened but had nothing to say, and
the people at Mixposure have reviewed "The Nursery (reject)" three times!
Very good reviews too! I have to go tell them thanks in a few minutes!
The
four reject tracks have just been approved and posted at CNET, so only
time will tell there. I'm still doing very poorly there since the redesign
of the site... I went from 477 downloads a week to less than 100. It's
awful, but maybe these four tracks will help light a fire for me there
again. My total "listens" there are now at: 79,184. Amazing.
In
other news, 66 people have viewed my CD at CD Baby. No one's bought
anything yet, but the digital distribution is about to start so I'm hoping
after that happens things will start to move on that front. Of course, the
album "ICON" was meant as almost a compilation CD of my various styles of
music, so many of the tracks were freely available for quite a while. I
know that those of you who've been listening the longest recognize those
tracks so probably won't buy "ICON". I do hope you'll buy "Abandoned
Hospital" though. This is the "big one" for me. I have carefully worked to
make each track fit with the others so the feel is solid as a whole. I
have enjoyed making this one immensely.
Well, hmm.... I guess that's all I have to say for now. I'm "this close" to being finished with "Abandoned Hospital".... Won't be long now....
Thanks for downloading, listening and reviewing!
